Today was a sea day as we sailed towards the Cook Islands. We began the day leisurely with an à la carte breakfast in the main restaurant.
The food was excellent, though to be fair, you can find most of the same items at the buffet – so no need for FOMO if you're opting for the casual route.
I spent the morning by the pool with my book, but it soon became clear that the sea had other plans. 🌊 The waters grew rougher, and it turned into quite the rollercoaster. The pool resembled a wave machine,

Lunch was served at The Grill up on the pool deck – a stunning spread of fresh Moon Fish and Tuna 🐟🍴. The chefs deserve serious praise for putting that together despite the ship swaying like a hammock in the wind.
Unfortunately, my sea sickness got the better of me 🤢. I retreated to the cabin and took some medication, eventually giving in to a Scopoderm patch behind my ear – a real lifesaver in these conditions. The rest of the day was a write-off, spent in bed with the motion worsening. Top tip: if you're prone to sea sickness, come prepared! Bring medication and patches – they can make all the difference.

27 April – Snorkels, Sunshine & Serenity 🏝️🐠
Woke up feeling human again – thank you, Scopoderm!
The sea was still choppy, but manageable, and I decided from now on, the patch is staying put for the rest of the voyage.
By late morning, we approached Rarotonga, the largest of the Cook Islands. We had lunch again at The Grill – very reliable and perfect for a lunch time meal, especially before an excursion.

In the afternoon, I headed out on the Muri Lagoon Snorkelling Tour. After transferring ashore via Zodiacs (an adventure in itself!), a minibus took us to a beach club where glass-bottom boats waited to tour the crystal-clear lagoon .
On the way back, our driver took the scenic route and gave us a mini island tour – a lovely bonus!
Just made it back in time for the last Zodiac ⏱️.
Travel Tip: Rarotonga has a super chilled, tropical vibe – think barefoot luxury. If you’re doing the lagoon tour, bring reef-safe sunscreen, your own snorkel gear if you prefer, and a dry bag for your phone/camera.
Back on board, I’d booked dinner at La Terrazza, the ship’s Italian restaurant. It transforms from the daytime buffet into an Italian style restaurant.

While the food was lovely, I felt the menu was more limited than the main restaurant.
We ended the day listening to the guitarist in the Panorama Lounge, which was nearly empty – clearly everyone else was worn out from the day’s adventures. It was the perfect peaceful end to a very full-on day .

⭐ Final Thoughts
🎯 If prone to sea sickness, don’t wait until it hits – medicate early.
🐚 Muri Lagoon is great for snorkelling fans – even beginners will enjoy it.
🍽️ Try all the ship dining options, but for the best variety, the main restaurant wins.
