Whilst planning this trip, deciding where to stay in Tokyo
had been really difficult, but in the end I opted for a hotel in Akihabara- the electronic district.
My reason for this was that we had booked the
MariCar experience from their Akihabara shop.
We arrived at the shop at 09.45, it was a very short walk
from the hotel. The weather was amazing, a glorious sunny day, very hot, it was
already 25 degrees C.
The MariCar experience is all about dressing up – Super Mario
is a favorite outfit- and driving around the streets of Tokyo in a Go Cart....like Super Mario in the Game.
On arriving at the shop, we did dress up in
the fluffy onesies – sat in the Go Carts- realized we were way to hot- so took
the dressing up clothes off!
If you do want to do this – and in my opinion it’s a MUST DO!- you
have to bring an international driving licence with you. One couple who had
booked failed to do this so could not take part in this great experience.
This is the route we did………

It was a fantastic way to see Tokyo and get an idea of the
layout of the city, and really, just so much fun. We finished at 13.30 and made
our way into Akihabara for some lunch.
Akihabara is not just an electronics area it also is the
home of many Maid Cafes, scantily clad girl singing groups and Manga.
Some of the Manga is just pornographic and one Managa shop
also doubled as a sex shop- the Cosplay outfits had us in fits of laughter. We spent
so much time gawping that we didn’t get lunch!!!
