Celebrity Eclipse, 14 Night Argentina and Chile Cruise. 14th March 2020. Sea day and Celebrity Cruise Lines suspend all sailings.

This was our last day at sea, and after a lazy start I went round the ship and took photos. Celebrity Eclipse is a beautiful ship. This was its last journey before going into dry dock for modernisation and upgrading. I actually couldn't see anything wrong with the ship it all looked great.

Our Captain was Captain Leo, he had been making an announcement each day about the journey and advising every one to wash hands and maintain hygiene around the ship. Today he advised us that due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Celebrity Cruise Lines were suspending all sailings and the planned journey from the port of San Antonio, Chile to Vancouver would not now take place. Many of the passengers on the ship were doing back to back cruises and for them this was a major change of plans, they would be flying home not sailing home. The customer services department on the ship was very busy sorting out customers alternative journeys home. 

Our plans were to pick up a hire car in the town of San Antonio and drive to Santiago. I had booked three nights accommodation with parking and the plan was to park the car then spend the first day exploring the city of Santiago. 

We packed our suitcases and they were taken late that afternoon ready for disembarkation day.
